Red is the colour of passion, of strength, motivation, and physical energy. It is the colour of the base chakra and is associated with the instincts of survival and security. Use splashes of red in a room to promote activity, often used in offices or dining rooms to increase activity of the mind and to stimulate the appetite.

Yellow is a very optimistic and warm colour. It is the colour of the solar plexus chakra and is associated with the ego, will, intellect and feelings of detachment. It is light, pure, positive and uplifting in nature. Great used in any room to bring warmth and light into your home.

Violet is the colour most associated with meditation. It inspires introspection and contemplation. It is the colour of the third eye chakra and is intimately connected with intuition, clairvoyance and perception. Violet is a very gentle, soothing and elevating colour, often used in rooms to promote feelings of self-esteem, dignity and respect.

Blue is the colour for calm. It is cool and pacifying and helps us wind down after a busy and hectic day. It slows the heartbeat and lowers the blood pressure. Blue is associated with the throat chakra and is the colour for communication, imagination and inner strength. I could not resist this very blue inspiring wave of whimsy in this room! Use blue in any room to promote feelings of calm, peace and tranquillity. It is often used in bedrooms and bathrooms or media rooms.

Pink is the colour most associated with love and romance. Think pink and indulge your softer side.It is gentle and soothing, and extremely feminine. Pink is a nurturing colour, tender, protective and full of compassion. It is often used in homes to promote positive and reassuring feelings.

Brown is the most grounded of all the colours. The influence of this colour helps to bring us down to earth and feel connected with the physical world around us. Bringing this colour into your home will make its occupants feel supported and stronger in themselves.

Orange is an uplifting colour, stimulating and energizing. It is associated with the sacral chakra and the emotions of joy and excitement as well as movement and creativity. Considered to be very warm, optimistic and the most sociable of all the colours. Great used in dining and entertaining areas. You invite your guests to open their senses and induce appetite!
